Samsung design proposal

We designed Bloom, a concept TV stand proposal for Samsung QLED displays. The stand works with their new generic fixtures that allow a range of stand designs to be applied. These fixtures offer the consumer a broader selection of designs to fit their home decor.

A split and bent tube

The design is about simplicity and an economy of material. A simple metal tube in stainless steel or aluminium forms the main body. The tube is split with three slots, and these are bent in circular outward curves to form the legs.

A cast metal part plugs into the tube and provides the fixture to the television. This part has the Samsung logo debossed into it as a dedicated branding area. The detailed chamfer edge follows the same dimensions on the television frame for a fit with the TV detailing.

Dealing with cables

Cable management functionality passes through one of the slots in the tube where the cables exit for connection to the television. A moulded plastic insert part inside the tube holds the cables up and against the top of the back leg. A rubber foot on the base of the back leg is split into two parts to channel the cables. When assembled the weight of the stand applies pressure on the cables through the foot and acts as a strain relief holding them firmly in place. The end profile curve of the rear leg allows the cables to exit naturally.
